Historique :	Aucune preuve certaine ne permet d'attribuer à Vaneau cette statue de sainte Madeleine. Néanmoins, dans une lettre émanant de l'abbé Fraisse, extraite de l'Echo du Velay du 28 mars 1878, il est fait mention du Tableau sculpté la mort de saint Joseph et de deux statues. Or lorsque l'on regarde cette statue, nous retrouvons toute l'habileté de l'artiste dans le traitement de la chevelure et dans la disposition harmonieuse des drapés, autre particularité, le traitement très soigné des mains et des pieds.

Précision_sur la representation :	La sainte est debout, fortement déhanchée, elle tient dans la main gauche la palme des martyres, elle relève de sa main droite un pan de son manteau. Sa chevelure est soigneusement répartie sous une coiffe.
