Historique :	Jacques Sahuc fut trésorier de la confrérie des pénitents en 1715. Ce tableau a été attribué à Jean Jouvenet en raison de motifs ou personnages repris dans cette oeuvre qui paraissent très proches de toiles peintes par cet artiste. Les rapprochements concernent essentiellement les trois apôtres du centre qu'on retrouve dans les diverses ascensions de Jouvenet. Les figurants du registre inférieur sont également textuellement repris d'une Pentecôte peinte par Jouvenet et que l'on trouve dans l'église Saint-Saulve de Montreuil. Toutefois, on ignore comment un tableau de Jouvenet a pu se trouver en possession d'un amateur Ponot qui l'aurait donné ensuite à la chapelle.
