Historique :	Le commanditaire de ces oeuvres est l'archiduc Ernest de Habsbourg (frère de l'Empereur Rodolphe II). Par le biais d'une acquisition, due à Melchior Mitte de Chevrière, ambassadeur à Bruxelles, elles furent ramenées à Saint Chamond (Loire) d'où il était originaire. Et de là, par l'intermédiaire de l'Abbé Jamon, curé de ladite ville, mais natif de Montfaucon, elles furent installées en ce lieu depuis, sans doute 1795.

Précision sur_l'état :	Restauration de l'ensemble des tableaux en 1939-45. Deux ans après, nouvelle restauration sur presque la totalité des oeuvres. En 1987, certaines subissent une autre restauration.
